Fijian centre Waisea Nayacelevu joined Sharks ahead of the 2024/25 Gallagher Premiership season after leaving French Top14 side Toulon.
Waisea, who stands at 6’4” and weighs in at 16st 7lb, spent ten years at in France at Stade Français before making the switch to Toulon in 2022.
Able to slot in at both centre and on the wing, Waisea got his first taste of international rugby when he was selected to join Fiji’s 7s team for the 2011/12 IRB Sevens World Series.
In 2012 he was picked for the first time in Fiji’s 15s squad and he made his debut against Japan in that year’s Pacific Nations Cup.
His performances alerted the biggest clubs in the Top14 and he was snapped up by Stade, making his debut against Montpellier in August 2012.
He captained his country at the 2024 World Cup, where the Pacific Islanders made the quarter-finals, losing 30-24 to England in Marseille. He also famously scored for Fiji in their memorable pre-World Cup win against England at Twickenham.
