Boyhood Sharks fan Sam Bedlow originally joined the club as a 17-year-old after leaving Myerscough College. The powerful centre progressed through the club’s academy programme and after a loan spell at Fylde, made his debut in a Challenge Cup fixture at Welsh side the Dragons. He played ten first team games for Sharks before joining Bristol Bears in 2017, signing his first senior contract two years later.
He went on to make more than 60 appearances for Pat Lam’s team before rejoining Sharks on a long-term deal ahead of the 2023/24 season, joining younger brother Joe in Alex Sanderson’s squad. On signing his contract, Sam said: “I’m so excited to be coming back up north to be close to my family and to play for the club I supported and watched as a kid.”
Sale Director of Rugby Alex Sanderson was delighted to welcome Sam back to the club, describing him as a ‘triple threat who can run, kick and pass’ and ‘one of the top performing centres in the Premiership.’
