Charlie Wardle

Fly-half Charlie Wardle hails from Bowdon and started playing rugby at his local club, Bowdon RUFC, when his dad, who he cites as his biggest influence, took him along to train with his older brother. 

He attended Bowdon Church Primary School and then Altrincham Grammar School, and joined the Sharks DPP at the age of 13 when his school teachers put him forward for a trial. 

Charlie, who was once part of the Manchester United academy, has represented England at under 18 level and was picked to play France in the Under 18 Six Nations in March 2022. 

But Sale Sharks were always his first love and he and his dad had season tickets when the club played at Edgeley Park.
