What is the HITZ Program?

At HITZ, we believe every young person deserves the chance to reach their potential, no matter their background or challenges. If you’re feeling unsure about your next steps in life, we’re here to help.

Who is HITZ for?

HITZ is designed for 16–18-year-olds who aren’t sure what to do next. There can be many reasons for this, such as:

  • Not achieving the exam results you hoped for
  • Dealing with mental or physical health challenges
  • Living in an unsettled home or lacking support
  • Facing issues with alcohol or drug use

If any of these sound familiar, HITZ could be the next step for you.

Case Study – Eve  (HITZ Learner)

Eve has overcome anxiety and depression to the point if never leaving her house / room for 2 years , to come and never miss a day of HITZ, make friends, complete all her work on time and to a high standard, get excellent feedback from her work experience and also gain an customer interaction apprenticeship for September. She really has changed her life through HITZ.

Eve had zero confidence. On her initial meeting, she wouldn’t even step foot in the classroom and chose to look through the glass in the door. She didn’t say a word and looked at mum to answer for her when I was speaking to her. I was under the impression that Eve would not return so it was amazing to hear from mum that she wanted to start the following week. We ensured on Eve’s first day that we gave her enough support and buddied her up with another girl in the cohort (they became best friends and were inseparable). Eve needed us to go at her own pace to build up her confidence. She absolutely thrived when it came to completing her Qual work and she would even work through lunch times as she was so inclined to finish to a high standard. She felt so comfortable at HITZ that from the day she walked into the classroom she never missed a day until she completed which in itself is such a massive achievement after not leaving her house for so long! She pushed herself out of her comfort zone and always gave 110%.

Eve allowed us to believe in her which meant she began to believe in herself. She was a role model student who proved that you can do anything if you push yourself and put your mind to it. Eve never thought she would ever be in a job less than 12 months after coming to HITZ. She didn’t even believe that she would be able to attend each day due to her mental health and fear of leaving her home and after a few weeks she was already smashing through her Qualification work and Maths and English each week.
