THE OPPORTUNITY:
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic strength and conditioning coach to assist in the physical development of the Sharks academy on a full time basis. The successful candidate will lead the boys U16s and 17s programme whilst supporting the other academy s&c coaches with all players in the pathway. This would be an ideal position for someone looking to develop and progress their career in a professional sporting environment.
KEY TASKS:
- In consultation with other practitioners plan and publish Academy S&C programmes and schedules.
- Collate initial player benchmarks and baseline standards, implement a robust testing regime to evidence player development.
- Deliver age relative Strength & Conditioning programmes to developing Academy athletes across the pathway.
- Work as part of an MDT with physios, doctors and coaches on developing training plans to support the rehab of injured players.
- Visit schools and Myerscough College.
- Foster relationships and share information with relative contacts.
- Establish, apply and share best practice standards both internally and externally.
- Support games and festivals where appropriate.
- Complete internal, RFU & PRL annual audits.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Experience of working in a sporting environment, either in an Academy / Professional Sport setting
- Appropriate knowledge and ability to programme strength, speed/change of direction and energy system – based training schedules, with appropriate diagnostics and monitoring included.
- Communication and strong interpersonal skills are crucial to the role
- A strong desire to work with and develop Elite Junior Rugby players
- Full British driving licence and access to your own car
DESIREABLE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- MSc or working towards in Strength and Conditioning or equivalent.
- Working towards UKSCA/CSCS or equivalent qualifications.
THE ROLE:
The full time role will be based at the training centre in Carrington and supporting other Academy players through the schools network.
The role will involve occasionally working unsociable hours to include bank holidays, early mornings, evenings and weekends as required.
