THE OPPORTUNITY:

Sale Sharks Women are looking to add an assistant coach to their team. We are seeking a passionate and energetic coach who is highly motivated and can build good relationships to influence and motivate others. This role will support the Head Coach in developing the regions only top tier women’s programme.

KEY TASKS:

• Support the Head Coach with the planning, delivery and review of the Sale Sharks Women’s programme.
• Assist with the development & implementation of a coaching programme for the team, working with other members of the management team and head coach to identify, develop & implement a playing strategy for the group.
• Review and analyse performance of both Sale Sharks and opposition teams through use of the appropriate match videos on elite hub and as provided by the Sale Sharks programme analysts.
• To share ownership of players’ individual development plans as agreed with the Head Coach, working with players to develop their understanding of their own performance and to maximise strengths and mitigate weaknesses.
• Input into selection decisions.
• Input into the day to day inter disciplinary working.
• To lead on projects or management areas, for example talent ID.
• To contribute to the recruitment of players.
• To support the broader Sale Sharks women’s program as required, for example running skill sessions, observing, and feeding back to fellow coaches as well as supporting the emerging college and university programmes.
• To deliver both individual and small group technical/tactical development sessions.
• Work as a member of the Sale Sharks women coaching team to ensure that a High-Performance Environment is created driving and displaying appropriate behaviors and standards.
• Support the Head Coach in generating and maintaining a high-performance culture that delivers success.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• RFU Level 3 coaching award or equivalent experience (working towards will be accepted).
• Proven rugby coaching ability in Elite Women’s rugby or a proven equivalent.
• Experience of coaching high-level players and/or talented young players OR a recent background of high achievement as an elite player.
• Evidence of progression and development gained over a number of years.
• Knowledge of current coaching and training processes.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Excellent motivational skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• An openness to challenge others and be challenged as a way of improving and iterating ideas and methodologies.
• Good organisational and time management skills.
• IT skills necessary for analysis, presentations and report writing.
