Sharklinks

We’re working hard on this one! Future sharks pending…

Although we have a British & Irish Lion legacy in our midst, we haven’t yet seen one of our juniors make their Sale debut. Our coaches work hard with the U14-18 to help them finesse their skills and balance their workload across club, school, and for many of them (including 15 of our U15s) their Sharks DPP commitments.

We are working hard with our senior coaching staff to make the transition from colts to senior rugby more integrated and we’re proud this year to have several former juniors starting for our First & Second XV, as well as one of our Colts making his Wolves debut. This progression and transition in bringing more talent through to the senior sides is a key focus for us. Like many other clubs we are seeing a slight decline in senior numbers and creating a hot bed of talent in our M&J section is key to the club’s future.

Minis & Juniors

This year we are celebrating our 50th year of M&J rugby, which is a testament to the volunteers and parents over the years who work incredibly hard to provide a safe, inclusive and fun environment for our 300+ boys and girls. It’s a Herculean effort, and one that the parents, coaches, volunteers, first aiders support without fail. Each April we are incredibly proud to host a Mini & Junior Festival welcoming over 1,500 for a 2-day festival of rugby.

Favourite Sharks Moment

Last October we took two coach loads of excited mini & junior players to the London Irish match. We really appreciate how Sale makes the match group prices accessible to families; their faces when they saw the ground were just perfect. Even the cool teenagers couldn’t quite contain their excitement when they all spilled onto the pitch at half time for a photo. I think one or two of us got something in our eye.

Many of my friends around the rugby world feel the same – at a personal level Sharks are part of the fabric of our family’s life. Boxing Day with the extended family, taking my younger son to his first game at just 3 weeks old, watching Sale lift the premiership cup in 2006, bringing my 4-year-old grandson to his first ever rugby game. Sale, Wilmslow & rugby help create moments that matter. #WWIMH

Club Goals

We capture our goals with our hashtag – Wilmslow Wolves In My Heart. In a recent survey, our members told us loud & clear what this means to them. Great senior rugby from the Wolves. Fun & encouraging programmes for the wolf cubs to grow their rugby heart and connection to the club. Social events for members and the community and an open and inclusive environment with something for everyone.
