Sale Sharks Women head down to Sixways on Sunday on the back of a spirited performance against a very strong Harlequins Women’s side last weekend. Darren Lamon for the first time this season is able to field the same starting line up and given the glimpses of brilliance they showed last week, he’ll be excited at the challenge ahead.
Abu-Marzouq, Houghton and Fielding continue in the front row and will be looking to continue impressive displays in the loose whilst making sure they can impose scrum dominance when given the chance too. Vicky E Irwin and Nicola Howat who are both enjoying runs in the starting line up continue their partnership in the row and will be confident that they can sure up the lineout whilst continuing to top the carries. Captain Beth Stafford who’s growing in confidence every week retains the 8 shirt and she’s joined by the work horses Elbeck and Perris Redding at 6 & 7. Jess Elbeck took some time to break into the squad but since doing so has been in outstanding form and the same can be said for Georgie who’s been one of Sharks best players over the past couple of weeks.
Player/Coach Katy Daley-Mclean crossed for her first Sharks try last weekend and will be joined by Jess Roberts fresh off her inclusion in the Wales Six Nations training squad. In the centres, Laura Perrin and Alicia Calton will look to tighten up the midfield whilst Jess Wooden remains at full back with Lisa Neumann and Alex Wallace again lining up out wide. Alex Wallace’s try was the difference last time out and here’s hoping it can be the same again for Darren’s team this weekend.
Lamon will be delighted to have both Jodie Ounsley & Teleri Wyn Davies available selection for this weekend and bring real fire power to an already impressive bench. Willow Bell is in line for her Sale Sharks debut this weekend after the 18 year old has impressed at training.
More good news for Lamon as both Gwen Prys and Hannah Field look close to being match fit and are only a couple of weeks away. Whilst both Vicky Irwin and Daisy Hibbert-Jones are both in for surgery this week and we wish them both well with their recovery.
Unfortunately Worcester Warriors won’t be live streaming the game, however we will be providing live tweeting updates via our Twitter channel.
