A key member of the Sale Sharks squad, 6ft 7in lock Josh Beaumont made his debut in 2013 after joining on a dual registration deal with Fylde following a spell at the Newcastle Falcons Academy.
After a stand-out season, he went on to be voted Players' Player of the Year in 2014/15 and later that year he made his England debut against the Barbarians, starting at number 8 and scoring a try in a 73-12 win.
The 2016/17 season was a memorable one for Josh as he was named Sharks captain and received a call-up to the England senior squad for the 2016 Six Nations. Unfortunately, he had to miss out due to injury.
The son of former England captain Bill Beaumont, Josh has gone on to rack up more than 100 appearances for the Sharks and is consistently one of the first names on the team sheet.
Although his time at Sharks hasn’t been without its challenges. During lockdown in 2020, he had to rehabilitate following knee reconstruction surgery. He returned in time to play a key role in the club’s push for Premiership glory.
He said of the Sharks now: “The club are finally mixing it at the top and it is something we have always aspired to achieve at Sale, to put rugby union back on the map in the North West.”
