A day before Sale Sharks release their 2019/20 match kits, the club are happy to announce that they are supporting children’s mental health charity Place2Be. The charity’s logo is appearing on the 2019/20 kit to help raise awareness of both its fantastic work and the importance of supporting young people to talk about their emotions.
Place2Be is a leading children’s mental health charity providing in-school support and expert training to improve the emotional wellbeing of pupils, families and teachers. Three children in every classroom have a diagnosable mental health issue. By providing expert emotional support in schools, at a crucial early stage, Place2Be gives children and young people the vital support they need to help them build life-long coping skills and to thrive.
Place2Be helps children and young people to cope with wide-ranging and complex issues, from bullying and friendship problems, to bereavement, family breakdown and trauma. Now in its 25thyear, Place2Be has grown from working with a handful of schools, to supporting over 600 UK schools each year to become more ‘mentally healthy’.
Catherine Roche, CEO of children’s mental health Place2Be, said:
“Place2Be is absolutely delighted that Sale Sharks has chosen us as their charity partner this year. Their support will really help shine a light on our important work improving children’s mental health and wellbeing in schools in the North West and across the UK. We’re delighted that the team is proud to wear the Place2Be logo, helping to spread the message that we all need to look after our mental health. We are looking forward to working with them on a community outreach programme in the months ahead.”
Speaking on behalf of Sale Sharks, Michelle Orange said:
”Sale Sharks are thrilled to have Place2Be as the first ever charity to be featured on our playing kit. Having personally supported them since 2016, I felt this an unmissable opportunity for the Club to partner with them for the season ahead, highlighting the great importance of children’s mental health and promoting the excellent work that Place2Be do in this field. Off-the-pitch our Community Trust will work closely with the Place2Be team to establish localised programmes to promote mental wellbeing for children and I know that on-the-pitch our players will wear the logo with pride on the back of their shirts.”
