HOURS OF WORK: Full time, including some evening and weekend working
BASED: On-sight at Carrington training ground

THE OPPORTUNITY:

This is an exciting opportunity to join an ambitious science and medicine team and play a key role within the women’s rugby department. The role will lead the delivery and development of physiotherapy services to support the health, wellbeing and performance of all Sale Sharks Women’s players.

KEY TASKS:
• Responsible for leading the injury assessment, diagnosis, and management of all Sale Sharks Women’s players
• Work collaboratively with the MDT, (including Red Roses medical where applicable) to implement effective injury management and rehabilitation plans to optimise player heath and availability.
• Deliver and oversee the rehabilitation of all long-term injured players in close collaboration with the rehabilitation therapist.
• Communicate effectively with coaches and across the MDT with regards to player care and availability.
• Implement effective athlete profiling and monitoring that inform physical preparation and reduce injury risk.
• Work closely with the HoPS and SSSM team, to develop and deliver collaborative and holistic support to optimise player health, wellbeing and performance.
• Contribute to the learning and development of therapy staff that support the overall improvement of science and medical services.
• Keep abreast of current best practices, maintain own continuous professional development
• To provide on-pitch and pitch side medical cover (Advanced Trauma/ First Aid) for all training sessions and matches.
• To provide close communications with designated National Teams to ensure effective player hand-over between club and country.
• Maintain documentation on all aspects of injury management in accordance with the Health Professions Council (HCPC) standards.
• Build strong collaborative relationships across key stakeholders that support and enhance medical provision
• Be a role model and positive influence on professional behaviours and standards

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Degree in Physiotherapy (BSc Hons or above)
• Minimum of 3 years post graduate experience in Physiotherapy
• Membership of Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (MCSP)
• PHICIS level 3 (or equivalent) pitch side trauma qualification
• Evidence of post-graduate professional development, reflective practice and experiential learning in sport

DESIRABLE

• Post graduate diploma or MSc in Sports Physiotherapy, Sports Medicine or equivalent.
• Experience working in rugby
• Experience working with female athletes

OTHER
• Full driving licence is required
• Includes evening and weekend working with travel within the UK to support away match days
