Luke James signs contract extension

Sale Sharks back Luke James has signed a contract extension committing him to the club until the end of the 2025/26 season.

The versatile 25-year-old, who can slot in at full-back or centre, has played more than 140 games for Sale since his debut against Saracens in 2017, scoring 17 tries.

He missed much of last season with injury but returned as a late replacement in the Gallagher Premiership semi-final defeat against Bath.

He’s played 12 games for the club this season, establishing himself in the number 12 shirt as a key part of Alex Sanderson’s team.

Luke said: “I’m massively excited to be staying at Sale Sharks and to keep pushing forward with the exciting squad we have this year. This is my boyhood club and we’ve got so much potential here to achieve massive things together. I want to be a part of that.

“I’ve had a difficult couple of seasons with injury and I’m really grateful to the owners and coaches for having faith and belief in me by re-signing me.”
