THE OPPORTUNITY:

Sale Sharks are recruiting an experienced and enthusiastic strength and conditioning coach to assist in the physical development of the Sale Sharks Women. The purpose of the role will be to plan, deliver and review areas of physical development within the women team, with a focus on individual player development. The successful candidate will be working as part of a inter-disciplinary team to create a world-class training environment.

Key responsibilities:
• Collaborate with medical and coaching staff to ensure injury risk is minimized whilst pushing the boundaries to maximise physical performance
• Take responsibility and ownership for elements of on-pitch delivery, including pitch warm ups, speed, agility and conditioning
• Assist the Lead Physical Performance Coach with provision of strength and power delivery in gym, including aspects of performance testing (Countermovement Jump, Isometric Testing) and data collection (load-velocity data)
• Assist the Lead Physical Performance Coach with sports science delivery, such as GPS data collection (both live in-session data monitoring and post-session download and analysis) and Heart Rate data collection in session
• Contribute and assist in the provision of Return to Play and Return to Perform processes alongside the Lead Physical Performance Coach and Rehabilitation Therapist
• Assist Lead Physical Performance Coach with roles on matchdays, including travel to away games
• Enhance athletic development provision to pathway players within the wider squad

The successful candidate must have:
• Experience working within a high-performance environment and a good understanding of elite sports pathways.
• Excellent knowledge and ability to construct strength, speed / change of direction and energy system-based training schedules, with appropriate diagnostics and monitoring included.
• Flexibility to work unsociable hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Good organisational skills as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a inter-disciplinary team.
• Initiative, adaptability and efficiency in finding ways to challenge and stimulate players in their pursuit of excellence.
• Enhanced DBS clearance and a full driving licence with access to a car / transport.

Key performance indicators:
• Effectiveness of coaching interventions provided to women’s players.
• Evidence of progress made by all players towards fulfilling their physical potential.
• Development of sustainable practices across the women’s prog.
• Feedback from players and stakeholders on the quality of service provided.
