Homegrown centre will spend the 2024/25 Gallagher Premiership season on loan.
Sale Sharks centre Connor Doherty has signed a new contract to stay at the club where he began his career.
The 23-year-old Kirkham Grammar graduate joined the Sharks academy at the age of 14 after playing his junior rugby at Altrincham Kersal.
He made his first team debut in the 2017/18 Anglo-Welsh Cup at the age of just 17 years old and has gone on to make 30 Sharks appearances, including seven this season.
Connor has signed a one-year deal with a further one-year option. He will now spend the 2024/24 Gallagher Premiership season on loan at Newcastle Falcons.
Connor said: “The last two years have been really challenging for me with a series of injuries and I’m really grateful to the Sale Sharks owners and coaches for supporting me and maintaining their faith in me.
“Sale is my home club and I’m buzzing to sign a new contract. The club is really going places and it’s a special place to be at the moment. But I’m also really excited about the year ahead and hopefully getting the opportunity to show what I can do week in, week out.”
