Former Ageas CEO Andy Watson announced to lead board
Sale Sharks Foundation is delighted to announce the appointment of former CEO of insurance giant, Ageas as its new Chair of Trustees.
Andy brings a wealth of skills and expertise from his former commercial roles as well as from his current Non Executive Director positions, which include Canada Life Limited, Atlanta Holdings and Brathay Trust, a charity improving the lives of children and young people in the Lake District.
Andy said: “I’m thrilled to be appointed as Chair of Sale Sharks Foundation. As a long-time Sharks fan, being asked to help guide the Foundation through the next stage of its journey is a real honour. The Foundation is committed to using the power of rugby union to change lives across the North West for the better.
“The work we do helps our communities, and individuals and groups in those communities, many of whom are disadvantaged or disenfranchised. I’m delighted to be able to play a small part in supporting the team to make a difference.”
Andy is taking over at an exciting time for the Foundation, the charitable arm of Sale Sharks, as the charity continues to deliver support for communities across the North West, following the devastating impact of Covid-19.
Alison Warwood, CEO of Sale Sharks Foundation, said: “Community is at the heart of a new era for Sale Sharks and it’s an exciting time for everyone involved. We are delighted that Andy has agreed to join the Board and look forward to working with him to help deliver the Foundation’s strategy to help change the lives of thousands of people over the coming years.
We would also like to thank our previous Chair, John Greaves, who first joined the Foundation Board in 2016. John has played a pivotal role in steering the charity through the Covid-19 pandemic and has helped create a number of new partnerships for the Foundation, which will continue to benefit the charity for many years to come.
