Sale Sharks confirm departing players

Sale Sharks can today confirm the players that will depart the club following the conclusion of the 2020/21 Gallagher Premiership season.

Following an extensive recruitment drive over the last few years, the Sharks have retained the majority of their playing squad ahead of the 2021/22 season, with a number of the squad receiving deserved international call-ups for their respective nations.

However, as with the end of every season, Sale Sharks will say goodbye to a number of players leaving the club to pursue opportunities elsewhere.

Alongside the previously announced departure of Will-Griff John, who leaves the Sharks to join Welsh franchise Scarlets in the newly formed United Rugby Championship, fellow props Jake Cooper-Woolley and Russian International Valery Morozov will also leave the club this summer.

Director of Rugby Alex Sanderson paid tribute to the departing players. He said: “These three lads have played a huge role in what we’ve achieved this season, both on and off the pitch, so I want to thank them on behalf of everyone at the club.

“Will-Griff, Valery and Jake probably haven’t always played as much as they would have liked but they’ve given everything in training and on the pitch, whenever they’ve been called upon.

“They’re really good players but more importantly, they’re good people and they’ve become good friends. On behalf of everyone at the club, we wish them all the very best with their careers going forward. They’re always welcome back at the AJ Bell.”
