Sale Sharks Women take on DMP Durham Sharks back at the Corpacq Stadium on Saturday and will be confident that they can get back to winning ways against the side where they picked up their first away win of the season. Lamon will be delighted to welcome back both Welsh International Gwen Pyrs and former England International Hannah Field who have both been out since Christmas.
Molly Kelly is given a rest this weekend and drops out of the 23 so one of this season’s outstanding players in Scarlett Fielding will be back in the 2 shirt and she’ll be joined by the ever present Houghton and Abu Marzouq in the front row. Teleri Wyn Davies and Nicola Howat continue their Celtic partnership in the row and will be looking to dominate the physical battle in the loose. There’s a change in the back row this week as Lamon makes some rotation, giving Georgie a breather and brings in Lucy Winter to join work horse Jess Elbeck and captain Beth Stafford who’ll be in the 8 shirt.
Try scorer last week, Jess Roberts continues in the 9 shirt alongside Daley-Mclean a former DMP Shark herself and they’ll be key to this young Sharks side coming out on top on Saturday. There’s another new centre partnership this weekend as Laura Perrin comes back in to the starting line-up and she is joined by Welsh international Lisa Neumann who provides Lamon’s side with genuine pace in the centres. Lauren Delany who scored an absolute belter last week continues on the wing with young England 7s flyer, Jodie Ounsley on the other wing. The experienced Jess Wooden continues at Full Back who Sale will be looking to, to put them in the right areas of the field to play.
There’s a real strength to the bench this weekend with the return of both Gwen Pyrs and Hannah Field, combining that with the likes of GLPR and Alex Wallace who have been shining lights in Year 1 of the project, it provides Darren with finishers that can come on and add real impetus in the latter stages of the game.
