Sale Sharks Women look forward to their first trip to Shaftesbury Park where they will take on 7th placed Bristol Bears Women in Round 12 of the Allianz Premier 15s. Darren Lamon’s side haven’t had an away fixture since heading to Exeter back in December and they will be looking for a much improved display away from home. Lamon’s side is still missing the influential duo of Gwen Pyrs and Nicola Howat but is delighted to bring back in formed England international Hannah Field and US Eagle Jess Wooden.
There’s just the one change in the pack this weekend with Jess Elbeck coming in for Lucy Winter who drops down to bench having picked up a couple of knocks against Glouceseter-Hartpury. That means that Abu-Marzouq, Fielding and Houghton continue in the front row and are supported in the scrum by Teleri Wyn-Davies and last weeks player of the match Daisy Hibbert Jones. The back row includes the addition of Jess Elbeck and the ever present pairing of el capitano, Beth Stafford and the enigmatic Georgie Perris Redding at 6.
There’s a familiar feel to the back line this weekend just the one change, which see’s Alicia Calton back in the 13 shirt and Alex Wallace dropping down to the bench. Grieve and Daley-Mclean will be looking to use their experience to put Sale in the right areas of the pitch to play but will have to be on the money with their kicking game given the quality that Bristol possess in their back three. Laura Perrin and Alicia Calton make up a used and trusted centre partnership that will look to create some go forth for an exciting new look back three. Vicky Irwin who impressed at the weekend makes the move from 13 to 15 which puts the dangerous runners of both Lisa Nuemann and Lauren Delany on the wings.
There’s a strong feel to the replacement bench this weekend with Freya Hellin, Molly Kelly and Brea Leung providing the front row replacements. Vicky Irwin will bring the impact as she always does and with both Hannah Field and Lucy Winter on the bench, Lamon has plenty of options available to him to freshen things up. Alex Wallace who’s been a regular starter over the past few weeks provides cover for both the centres and the wing, whilst Jess Wooden covers both the 10 and 15 shirt.
Unfortunately there will be no live stream this weekend so please follow our Sale Sharks Women Twitter channel for live tweet updates.
