Daniel du Preez receives 3-week suspension

Daniel Du Preez appeared before an online independent disciplinary panel last night (6 January 2021).

Daniel was cited by following the match between Gloucester Rugby and Sale Sharks on Saturday 2 January 2021 for striking with shoulder, contrary to World Rugby Law 9.12 or in the alternate reckless or dangerous play, contrary to World Rugby Law 9.11.

Du Preez accepted the alternate charge of reckless or dangerous play and was given a three week suspension by the independent disciplinary panel comprising Gareth Graham (chair) with Martyn Wood and Guy Lovgreen. He is free to play again 26 January 2021.

Du Preez is due to miss the following games:-

  • Gallagher Premiership: Sale Sharks v Worcester Warriors, Friday 8 January
  • Champions Cup: Edinburgh Rugby v Sale Sharks, Saturday 16 January
  • Champions Cup: Sale Sharks v R.C. Toulon, Friday 22 January

If any of the above games are cancelled or rearranged then the player’s free to play date will be amended.
