Sale Sharks Women sign Welsh Wing Lisa Neumann

Sale Sharks Women are delighted to announce the signing of Wales International winger Lisa Neumann ahead of the club’s maiden Premier 15s campaign.

26-year-old Neumann has 15 caps for Wales Women and already has a wealth of top level club experience, representing Firwood Waterloo Ladies over the past two seasons and previously RGC in Wales.

The Welsh international played in last November’s international series and in every fixture in the 2020 Six Nations Championship prior to the final match being postponed.

Upon signing for the club, Lisa said:

“I’m really excited to be joining Sale Sharks Women this upcoming season. It is such a great opportunity to play top level rugby and continue to develop my game in an elite performance setting. I can’t wait to get started and challenge for a place in the starting team.”

Darren Lamon, Head of Women’s Rugby at Sale Sharks was exceptionally pleased to secure the club’s seventh international signing ahead of the forthcoming Premier 15s season. Commenting on today’s announcement, he said:

“It is superb to be able to announce another high-quality addition to our squad in Lisa. She is an experienced operator within the back three, which is evidenced by her international pedigree. In Lisa, we have found someone who can have a real impact in the wide areas of the game. She is someone who has natural pace, a physical presence in defence and exactly what we need to support the wingers we have here already. Lisa came to the attention of both Katy and I when watching action from this year’s Six Nations Championship.  Lisa is determined to keep her spot in the Welsh team and we look forward to giving Lisa all the resources we can to continue to develop her game.”

Expanding on the recruitment process that Sale Sharks Women are embarking on ahead of their fledgling season in the Premier 15s, Darren went onto say:

“The nature of today’s current times means that we have to be savvy with our recruitment, which is something Sale Sharks is familiar with. Katy and I have worked hard to find the right players, who will come in and add something to our squad. We are focusing on finding individuals with the attitude and desire needed to be a Shark and we will continue to find these individuals to help take the team forward as we approach our debut in the Premier 15s.”
