Solomona hit the headlines, scoring a try two minutes from time to seal England a 38-34 victory over Argentina in San Juan. Denny came off the bench with 50 minutes gone, replacing Marland Yarde.

Will Kelleher, from the Daily Mail, said: "Denny Solomona only played 30 minutes on debut in San Juan, but created enough drama to fill an entire Test career on Saturday. What a night for the cross-code winger. He became England's hero, scoring 100 seconds from time to hand the tourists an epic victory."

Michael Aylwin, of the Guardian, said: "Up stepped Solomona, and not for anything so mundane as defensive work. This time he showed what he could do with ball in hand. Jack Maunder, yet another debutant, combined with Francis down the right to set Solomona stepping, smashing and streaking away through the Pumas defence to steal an extraordinary match at the death."

Speaking to BBC Sport after the game, Sir Clive Woodward said: "It was an amazing finish. He bounced off the defender, and off he went."

Jerry Guscott said: "The noise from Sale, and from the media is that this lad is scoring tries, and he's scoring tries from impossible situations. He's making magic, when he took the ball on the wing, there were three Argentina players around him, and he bounced off, and away he goes. He's been doing that for Sale all season - he's a talented kid. He's scoring tries - we've seen his weakness, but he will score from anywhere, just like Chris Ashton."
