Sale Sharks coach Paul Deacon is under no illusion the challenges that the team will face on Saturday when they travel down to Sandy Park to take on high-flying Exeter Chiefs.
The Chiefs, who lie second in the Aviva Premiership table, and narrowly lost out to Leicester Tigers in the Anglo-Welsh Cup final last weekend, will be looking to cement their spot in the Top Four as we enter the business end of the season.
Speaking to the press this week, Deacon said: "Exeter is a tough place to go. It will be as tough as taking on Wasps and Saracens, especially at Sandy Park. It's a long trip and they have got a great record at home and it's a massive challenge for us.
"However, it is one we've prepared well for, we've been looking forward to it since our last outing, and we're still frustrated about that performance (against Northampton) and we coaches are looking for a reaction and I know the players are too."
The Sharks have had a two week break, since they lost out to Northampton Saints on 3rd March, and Deacon admitted he would have like to have played sooner than Saturday: "After the performance against Saints, we wanted to get back out there as soon as we could to be honest, and rectify that but it wasn't to be.
"We've tried to use the two week break to build it up. We've got some good work into the boys and it's been intense. We've got a lot of work done and hopefully that'll come out on the field on Saturday.
"We're not looking at the Premiership table anymore, we're just concentrating game by game. We'll end up where we end up. We're after five top quality performances, if that can get us something from Saturday we'll see, but it's more performance led now. We've been disappointed with our season and want to finish on a high."
