Speaking after the late victory over Newcastle Falcons, Sale Sharks winger Byron McGuigan was never in doubt that Sale Sharks would come out on top.
A late penalty from Will Addison ensured Sale Sharks a fourth straight win on the bounce at the cold AJ Bell Stadium.
He said: "Throughout the game we were in complete control and as a team we felt we were going to win. They scored off a few of our mistakes to get back into the game but we felt comfortable in our play even when we were behind".
The Namibian born winger scored an all-important try on the stroke of half time to give Sharks a six point lead going into the break. Speaking about his try McGuigan said:"I saw that the pick and go was on down the short side which I looked to capitalise and luckily it payed off. I haven't scored in a while so I was just trying to get that monkey of my back and I did".
He also mentioned his tribute to Joost van der Westhuizen who died this week, adding "Because I am from South Africa and Namibia, Joost was a hero growing up for me as well as a hero for the whole of South Africa so the least I could was honour today's game to him".
McGuigan also credited his opposite wing partner, Denny Solomona who has scored six tries in seven appearances since joining in December: "Denny's a really important player for us as he has the ability to win any team a match. He is scoring tries every week which is something you cannot complain about".
On Sunday, the Sharks entertain Wasps at the AJ Bell Stadium in a game which everyone is looking forward to watching: "The fans are always there for us acting as a strong 16th man, for this game especially we need them to come out in their numbers to help drive us to victory.
."We are starting to win games now and we wouldn't want that to end next week against Wasps. Our aim now for the end of the season is to finish in the top 6 and we want to give ourselves the best possible chances of finishing there. As always, the Sale way is the hard way!"
