Pre-Season has started here at Sale Sharks, and earlier today we sat down with one of our new signings Rob Webber to ask him how he feels about the move.
The English international joins the club from Bath Rugby, where he had been since 2012, and moves closer to his birthplace, York.
Webber said: "I'm really happy about the move. My wife and I have settled into a house, and are getting to know the area. We're really excited and very happy to be starting the next chapter of my career."
Speaking about the move to the club, he said: "It was pretty simple. We decided we were going to move on from Bath, which was fine, and Steve got in touch and it things happened pretty quickly.
"Dimes has been great, very welcoming, and helpful. I'm looking forward to being coached by him and getting to know him, and getting to know every one at the club.
"I don't know too many people here, so it's a good fresh challenge here, that's one of the reasons why I wanted to come - to try something new."
He added: "I do know Peter Stringer quite well however, he spoke very highly of the place, and the lads and setup so that was a good enough endorsement from me."
Webber comes in to the squad, to replace Tommy Taylor, but the hooker denies they are a like-for-like replacement: "Tommy offers various things, and I offer different things. I hope I can just contribute well to the team, and be myself and influence some games."
He spoke highly about the AJ Bell Stadium, and he is excited to be part of a club, which is building: "It's a hell of a stadium. It's actually been quite dry when I've played there surprisingly! But it's really good.
"The club is trying to build that fan base and get it full as possible, and that's another part of the experience I want to be a part of, and see the club grow in that sense. It's an exciting place to be."
"I don't know too much about the new owners yet, but I'm sure we'll find out more as we go, and we'll get to speak to them. It's always exciting when there's a change, and I'm sure the guys will influence it to the best of their abilities."
